Hi! My name is Hillary Jennings, and I earned my B.A.
in psychology and English
here at the University of Michigan.
I know, you're probably wondering, "What's someone with a psychology/English
degree doing making websites that deal with space?" Well, I stumbled upon
the opportunity while I was looking for a job in the summer of 2000. Although
I originally showed interest in a different position here at the Space
Physics Research Laboratory, my research group was interested in getting
some more "public friendly" material up on the web, and thought I would be the
right person for the job. I know a little bit about computers, and have
an interest in education, so they hired me to "translate" their science into
something that both students and regular, non-scientist people can understand.
After a summer of researching, questioning, and learning, this is what I came
up with. (Check out the References
and Thanks page to see whose help it took to get me this far!) I've
learned a lot about both web design and space, two subjects of which I knew
little before, so I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with
the Solar and Heliospheric
Research Group and to stay on board with them to maintain my work.
Now that I've graduated, I am moving on to I start graduate school at Syracuse University to get my M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy. I'll miss working here, it was a great experience.
