Introduction

The Solar and Heliospheric Research Group has been part of the University of Michigan since 1993.  We study things like the Sun, something called the solar wind, and the gases that exist in space.  The most important thing we study is the connection between the Sun and the Earth.  We want to know about how they relate to each other so that we can predict how life on Earth will be affected by what goes on in and around the Sun!

The tour will involve things such as explanations of magnetic fields, the workings of the Sun, and the instruments used to collect data.  Any term you find with a link will take you to a definition of the word from the glossary page.
